We will pick you up at your hotel in Santo Domingo, board your comfortable coach and settle in for an exciting overview the oldest European-settled city in the Western Hemisphere. During this 4-hour tour, you will visit the Colonial Zone, containing some of Santo Domingo’s oldest landmarks and churches, and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This part of the city on the west back of the Ozama River, is home to the Catedral Primada de America, known as the oldest cathedral in the Americas. We’ll stop at Centro Commercial Blue Mall and some other modern-day points of interest in downtown Santo Domingo. At the National Botanical Garden you will disembark to walk among the garden’s native tropical plants, ferns, orchids and Japanese garden. Additional landmarks during this tour include the Monasterio de los Dominicos, the Monasterio Santa Clara and the Casa Nicolas de Ovando. You will also visit the Fuerte San Gil, Plaza de la Cultura and other important historical and cultural sights. An English speaking guide will provide you with informative commentary during the tour.
